How to sell the knowledge in your business on the net

business accounting software

I use videos like the one above (took about an hour to produce) to help people using my low cost alternative to small business accounting software i.e. Quickbooks quickly learn new skills and techniques they can immediately use to improve their business. I am amazed more people are not using this really easy way to turn what they know into content and start selling it through the internet to the connected market. I recommend you build your own information product (digital content) from scratch as the return on your investment in time will be higher (profit margin) and you will have the added benefit of being able to learn more about your customers and build more value into your product.

When I first saw how simple it was to create a video and upload it to YouTube or turn it into a podcast it made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck and I concluded I should share this essential skill with everyone. These platforms are absolutely brilliant for selling, promoting and building a reputation for whatever information products you have in mind, regardless of whether its how to upgrade your airline seat or replace your small business accounting software.

You should always start with a plan of what you are going to say and share with your audience and therefore you need a structured approach which is best done by creating a storyboard. The simplest and the easiest way to create a useful and easy to refine storyboard is to use Microsoft powerpoint or Apple Keynote as you can use the material you create on your slides in your video. You do not have to incur any expense what so ever to create a storyboard, produce a professional quality video and get your work online, in front of your target market and start selling it.

The most sophisticated tool you can use to create your video is free as a thirty day trial (DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS YET) and its called Camtasia Studio and its made by a company called TechSmith who also produce some superb and inspiring video tutorials which I recommend you watch everyone of first to learn the art and get some ideas. As I said don’t download the Camtasia software yet as you want to maximise your use of the thirty day trial to get your idea fleshed out and be familiar with the tools.

OK the next step you should take is to discover the tools I have just talked about and in the next instalment which will appear on this blog (owner permitting) soon I will show you how to very detailed storyboard using my small business accounting software videos as a working example.
