How to turn what you know into money by selling it on the internet
small business accounting software
I use video to help my customers not just learn new skills and master new ways of using my low cost alternative to small business accounting software packages like QuickBooks or Peachtree but to teach them other useful business skills such as people management and planning. This is quite straight forward all you have to do is follow my instructions and you should be able to start selling what you know through the internet. I would recommend you take the time to design and create your own product (digital content) as the margin you earn will be higher and you have the added benefit of learning from your customers what you could do to refine your product and maybe sell more.
A significant percentage of the human race now understands how to watch videos on YouTube and use iTunes, the iPod and even the iPhone and it is here I begin my explanation of how to leverage these popular technology platforms to sell your knowledge. These platforms are absolutely brilliant for selling, promoting and building a reputation for whatever information products you have in mind, regardless of whether its how to upgrade your airline seat or replace your small business accounting software.
The first thing you need to understand is how to prepare your knowledge or content so as you can turn it into video, don’t worry its quite simple. If you have ever given a presentation or a talk using slides made by microsoft powerpoint or apple keynote then you are off to a great start to storyboard your video. As you will see in a moment you can create your storyboard and produce your video without having to spend any money what so ever on even the lowest cost (apart from free of course) and best tools that money (if you had it) can buy to get your video out there making money.
To create your videos I recommend a really good program called Camtasia studio from a company called TechSmith, it will enable you to produce high quality videos for YouTube, Podcasts and download to your customers computer in either QuickTime or Windows media format (don’t download the trial yet, just watch all of the tutorials). I recommend you get your idea storyboarded and learn as much as you can about Camtasia Studio before downloading it as you want to get best use of the 30 day trial.
Now you know what tools you need to create your videos and in the next few days I will be publishing to this blog (owners permitting) another and much more detailed lesson on storyboard creation using how I created and distributed my small business accounting software videos as real life examples of what is possible.
