How to turn your presentations into money
I make a least one video per day like the one above to help the people who use this low cost replacement for small business accounting software (for example Quickbooks) to master new skills and improve their business (the video above took about an hour to make). I think everyone with a skill should have the opportunity to sell their knowledge online, se here I am going to walk you through how to turn what you know into digital content and sell it to a worldwide audience. You should build your own product as it will build your confidence and skills and give you a much higher return on your efforts as all of the margin is yours and even better still you will be able to understand what makes your customers buy and build it into your next product and sell more.
A significant percentage of the human race now understands how to watch videos on YouTube and use iTunes, the iPod and even the iPhone and it is here I begin my explanation of how to leverage these popular technology platforms to sell your knowledge. I love these video distribution platforms as they really have helped me sell and build a reputation for my low cost alternative to conventional small business accounting software such as Quickbooks or Peachtree.
The best instructional videos I have seen have always been produced using a technique called storyboarding this helps you decide and refine how you to best share your knowledge with your audience. Don’t even think about using pen and paper to create a storyboard, you can save yourself a lot of repetitive work and let your creative powers loose by using slide creation programs like Microsoft powerpoint or Apple Keynote. Do not spend a single dime or penny before you have made any money, I know for a fact it is entirely possible to get your storyboard created and your video made and sell it with out incurring any expense what so ever.
There is a great tool for producing videos that will stream from YouTube or are downloadable as a podcast or Quicktime or Windows Media Player video its called TechSmith Camtasia Studio and their site contains loads of really easy to follow tutorials that you should watch, but whatever you do don’t download the thirty day trial yet. As I said don’t download the Camtasia software yet as you want to maximise your use of the thirty day trial to get your idea fleshed out and be familiar with the tools.
OK you are beginning to get an appreciation of the tools you will need and the approach you should take to sell your knowledge online, what I have given you already will help you get prepared for the next lesson where I go into a lot of detail on how to create the storyboard which I will be releasing to this blog (owners permitting) in the next few days, so look out for part two and if you have any questions in the meantime please follow the small business accounting software links.
