Warm rusty tone of paint or wallpaper work very well with plants in the bathroom. However, choose plants that like steamy warm conditions, and that can tolerate the various chemical substances. Some plants just cannot put up with the mousse, hairspray, and perfumes that are used regularly in a bathroom. It will gum up the plants leaves and they will finish up in your compost bin. If your bathroom is large enough, you can hang plants from the ceiling, or place them on the rear of the lavatory. Large garden style bathtubs have enough space on the rim of the tub to place small plants, and together with bath soaps and baskets, they look beautiful.

Rugs and towels play a vital part when accessorizing your freshly decorated bathroom. For a feeling of sheer elegance, you will not go far wrong with hand woven or deep sumptuous throw rugs. However, when buying the rugs, take into account the type of floor covering you are laying them on because they can pose a slipping risk when put on bathroom flooring tile. To prevent this, look for rugs that have either a non slip or rubber backing. Try coordinating your new rugs and toilet mat in either matching or alternating colors. When mixed with a neutral background, different textures work well to give an inviting, comfy warm feel to your bathroom.

You can jazz up your bathroom with decorative towel racks and colorful towels as well. Towel racks are available in all manner of finishes including wood, bronze, silver and gold. If you want to match existing baskets and picture frames, you can paint or stain wooden racks in whatever color or shade you want.

Good, practical bathroom lighting is important as well. The initial consideration is for safety of course, but when the room is not being used, night lights can be left on and your cabinet tops could be utilized for a small lamp. Lamps can match your theme and so can your nightlights. You can dress them, or purchase them already fixed up with your theme. Of course, this all depends if you have adequate counter space, but it is a great decorating idea for a theme.
