However, this can take a little more time than other painting techniques, as you must build up the layers of paint to get the full effect.

To apply the color washing technique:

· First, paint the wall the color you’ve selected as your base color. You’ll then need to wait for it to completely dry.

· Once it’s dry, then come back and paint another layer using a slightly different color or complementary color.

· This layer should be painted using only a paint brush. Apply the paint in all different directions, going over your strokes, so that the base color shows through in random areas.

· If you want an additional color to show on the wall, you can do another layer of painting this way.
