Lost in the car?

You certainly would not be alone if you were to admit getting lost in the car with a partner not helping by giving out all the wrong directions. It is a very stressful thing and something that can cause huge arguments within the car which do not help both the situation and any kids that are sitting in the back wondering what on earth is going on.

There is however a solution to this and that is to get a Sat Nav.They are basically a GPS system in your car that uses the Global Positioning Satellite what orbits the earth. It locks onto the Sat Nav receiver in the certain unit and calculates longitude, latitude as well as altitude. It is then laid over a standard road map which reveals the drivers position from anything between 5-10 metres depending on how good it is. It can also work out the quickest route between two points which is going to save you on petrol. Furthermore it can combine average road speeds and other data to tell you on rough arrival times to your route~Furthermore it can combine average road speeds and other data to tell you on rough arrival times to your route~Furthermore it can combine average road speeds and other data to tell you on rough arrival times to your route}. Road conditions can also be made available to you.

If you are looking for one that maps Europe as well as the USA then it is going to cost you a bit extra but then again you are not going to get lost in either of these places anymore.

It is possible that something ecould go wrong with th item? Will all you have to do is to get something known as gadget insurance which will cover something like this or you could even get Sat Nav insurance which is basically what it says it is and will cover your Sat Nav if it breaks.
If you are planning on going away then don’t forget to have travel insurance as it could really save you some money if something goes wrong when you are away.

Law students arent as good as they though

Two students who were taking a holiday in Brazil have essentially been found that they were lying when they stated that they were robbed on a Brazilian bus. They have been arrested for insurance fraud as they were said to have claimed that over £1000 worth of their belongings had been taken from them on the bus. However when officers searched the two girls hostel in Rio de Janeiro it was found that the items they had claimed to be missing were actually in their lockers all along.

They have stated that they were in fact robbed but had simply got what they were robbed from them wrong which isnt impossible.

Although the morale of the story seems to be not to lie it does teach an important lesson and that is that you should always have insurance.

If in fact they had not been lying they would have successfully been able to get back their money for the items taking proving that travel insurance does actually come in handy when you use it for the right reason

s rather than for personal gain. Whether or not they were telling the truth is unknown.
So at least this story will persuade more people to get out travel insurance as you now know for sure that it works. However they could have been telling the truth as having something taken away from you is a very traumatic experience and it is by no means easy to remember things well in a situation like this.

Of course if you are not looking to go away this year a look into your home insurance could be what you need. Some of these do not actually cover you from many things which is why you might need to be looking into home emergency insurance.

One of the major things to remember is that if you are going to claim on the insurance is not to lie about it!

The governments new flood bill

The British government to soon release a new Flood and Water management bill which is set out to create an effective way to managing flooding and coastal erosion.
So far it is clear that the government are missing several things on this bill. Social housing, signposting and guidance as well as resilient repair have all been left out. This basically means that consumers are not going to be protected at all from any future flood and insurance cover is going to be at risk.

Social housing is quite important as the government needs to include a requirement that local authorities provide low cost insurance solutions. This is important as people who are under rent schemes currently have no way of gaining contents insurance from any flooding at all.
Awareness as well as signposting is also important as houses that are prone to flooding currently have no way finding out how to insure their property. If this is added it will be a lot easier for people to insure thier property.

It has also been put forward that the government include guidance on flooding so that advice can be given on an emergency situation as well as providing a flood kit and advice on before, during as well as after the flood hits. In some cases a flood can be worse than natural disasters such as hurricanes and tornados so it is important that the government get this right.
Currently there is no way you can prepare a building to prevent it from any future flooding damage, with resilient repair this can be made possible using your insurance policies to pay for anything you may need. This can be very important if you are in a flooding zone.

Having home insurance and something that is going to protect your I-pod like gadget insurance can help during flooding but unless the government do something about this then even the home emergency insurance might not be able to cover you during a bad flood.

DIY in the holidays is popular

Now usually it is during the Easter break in which Brits take up DIY and gardening thinking that they are pros and usually ending up in an accident or two. While sometimes it can only mean tripping over the wall paper paste it can also end in some very serious injuries if you haven’t set up a ladder in the right way or are using tools you have no idea how to use.

This summer however is proving that British people are choosing to take their holidays in their own home also showing that many people are going to be doing some extra DIY work as surprisingly they do not like to just sit down for a couple of weeks and do nothing.

Sometimes a small task can be made into a big task and calling in a professional to begin with could be a very good plan.Nationwide research has been carried out and it shows that just over a third of Britain’s population have had a DIY disaster within the home and one in four of us Brits have had to make an SOS call to a professional to actually fix the problem.

With the credit crunch still in full flow a lot of people are actually choosing to do the work themself rather than going to a company for it. If it is in the holiday period you are going to be chrage period rate just for someone stepping into your home. A home emergency insurance policy is the best thing to have to make sure you do not have to pay out a lot as normal home insurance will simply not cover it.

Of course if you find yourself always dropping your phone why not actually go and get I-phone insurance so you do not have to go out and pay out for repairs or even for a new phone.

Dealing with bedbugs

Unwelcome guests are common in these warm summer months so be on the look out. It is not the in-laws being spoken of here but pests such as wasps, cockroaches and bedbugs. Although these may be small bugs they can in fact pose a serious health hazard as well as potentially causing damage to your home that could result in a horrible bill of hundreds of dollars.

Bedbugs are a very serious problem and they are on the increase. They are not just being found in bedrooms anymore but in other places like sofas, chairs and in curtains. The horrific thing is that they feed on human blood. They could in fact (in a really bad case) bite you up to 500 times in such one night. The only thing that you do not need to worry about here is diseases as so far it is known that bedbugs do not carry any at all. However as one of the bugs can ingest up to seven times its own weight in blood one single feeding by a severe investigation could result in the victim developing something like anemia.

The problem with this is there really isn’t much out there in terms of you going out there to buy something that will actually get rid of a large infestation. The answer really comes from home emergency insurance which will actually cover you if an expert has to come in to get rid of them. Bed bugs were nearly eradicated all together not long ago by broad pesticides such as DDT. The reason they were left is because they were not seen as a huge threat. They have hit back worse than ever. Of course broad types of pesticides are not used anymore as so many specific ones are out there.

So make sure you have home insurance to help cover you against things like this. Of course if it is your phone you are worried about getting damaged why not take out I-phone insurance.

Always make sure to think where you are putting your bag

Keeping your bag safe is sometimes something that is right at the back of your mind when out at a party at a friend’s house or even when out partying in town. However even at close relatives it is possible that your bag could be stolen by somebody and that happy party night could be turned into a very bad night indeed. Not just your purse can go missing with a stolen bag. If someone steals a bag the whole identity can go with it too. It is important to remember a few things when going out.

Although sounding like an airport, do not leave your bag unattended, ever. It is very common for everyone to leave all of thier possessions in one room at a party. Although this sounds likea really good idea the real truth behind it is that a thief can actually pretend to be looking for an item of thiers when they are not.

Chelsea clips can be very useful things indeed. It would certainly be a good idea if you see one of these to use it. They make it virtually impossible for someone to steal a handbag as they have to use both hands to even get it off of the hook.

If you are one of those people who likes to hang your bag off the back of your chair then you may as well hand them the cash. Making the bag look like it cannot be taken with ease is key, do not leave zips open, zip them up and close all compartments.

The final point is carry as little cash with you as possible. You can stop someone from accessing you credit cards, once cash has been taken you cannot stop it from going anywhere.

If the worst does happen then your home insurance is not going to help at all and unless you are at home neither is home emergency insurance. The best bet to take is either gadget insurance or personal emergency insurance. Having both of these will not only enable you to claim back any gadget that may have been stolen but cash as well.

7 Easy Ways to Look After Your Mobile Phone

Smashing A Mobile Phone

Statistics tell us that around 88% or people don’t leave home these days without their mobile phones. Given that most of us rely on these ubiquitous devices every day losing one can be a disaster.

As mobile phones have become increasingly small and lightweight they’ve become easier to lose, drop or misplace. There are some interesting statistics from 2008 including: around 200,000 mobile phones were put into washing machines, around 600,000 were dropped down toilets and 55,000 were left in the back of taxis.

There is also the growing and worrying risk of theft. In the UK alone more than 2 million mobile phones are stolen each year. This means that 1 mobile phone is stolen around every 12 seconds and this worrying trend is on the increase.

When a phone is lost there is, of course, the initial financial headache of getting a new replacement. But there may be some significant call charges arising between the time when the phone was stolen and when it is eventually disabled. There are also the problems that can be caused by losing contact details and other data from the phone.

It has been found that fewer than 1 in 5 people who rely on their mobile phones go to the trouble of routinely backing up their phone data. Although most phones come with software that makes it easy to backup data from the phone to a computer few people take advantage of this.

So what steps can be take that will help protect us against loss or theft of our valuable mobile phones?

  1. Firstly, don’t make it easy for a thief to steal your mobile phone. Never leave your mobile phone unattended in the car and always keep it secure in a closed handback or backpack.
  2. Make certain to record the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number from your mobile phone. This is a unique number associated with every mobile phone that can be used to disable the phone if it has been lost or stolen.
  3. Most moble phones can be configured to only operate after a PIN has been entered. This can be a bit of a nuisance but it will prevent a thief from running up substantial bills on your account.
  4. Another simple step is to switch your phone to vibrate mode when in a busy public place in order to ensure that nobody else is alerted when your phone rings.
  5. You may like to engrave your name and maybe your car registration details onto your phone and its battery. An alternative is to use a system for attaching unique serial number stickers (as provided by trackitback.com) to your mobile phone as this will help identify the phone if it is lost or stolen.
  6. Get into the habit of backing up your SIM card data as often as possible. If you are adding new contacts and appointments every day then you should be backing up your mobile phone data every day.
  7. Finally, make certain that you have some mobile phone insurance that provides the protection that you need. Remember that not all mobile phone insurance policies are the same so be certain to read the details and ensure that you get the cover that you want.

Hopefully, by following these simple steps you will avoid becoming one of the lost or stolen mobile phone statistics.

Do Not Run Over a iPhone with a Chair

Although this is something that I did not manage to do on purpose it was a complete accident and I am now suffering from it.

I had first dropped my iPhone onto the floor in which I was immediatly called up for a meeting. When I had got back down I had totally forgotten about the phone and slid across the room to my desk space. I had thought I has run over something but wasnt sure if it was just the floor or not so I carried on. Turned out it wasnt the floor at all.

Once I had remembered the phone was missing I went looking for it to discover it being on the floor and after inspecting it I thought everything was okay until I turned it over. Somehow the part of the phone where the charger goes in had cracked and left me with no way of being able to charge the phone. Another problem is that I had no way of getting a new one because I didn’t have iPhone insurance.

It would be very hard for me to actually get another phone as I have spend so much time getting used to the iPhone it seems to be the only phone for me now. I now have to save some money up to get another one, I will not make this mistake again. Perhaps because I am on contract they will give me a bit of a discount but I can’t see much sympathy coming from them when I haven’t for any insurance of any kind, even that gadget insurance would have sorted me out.

I am now going to go out and get I-pod insurance as there is no way I am ever taking this kind of risk again. It is simply impossible to keep paying out to replace all of the things I am breaking.

Senior Travel Insurance Advice

You’ve chosen where you would like to go for your holiday and you’re already imagining yourself lying on a a hot, sunny beach. But are you a senior holiday traveller and have you researched and arranged your senior travel insurance?

If you are over 64 and looking for travel insurance cover you could run into some problems. Many insurance companies suddenly become reluctant to offer travel insurance to senior travelers for a number of reasons. They don’t want to take what they may see as unnecessary risks. Ideally, they will sell their travel insurance policies and no one will actually make a claim on them. But senior travelers present additional risks due to their age, possibly declining health and maybe pre-existing medical conditions.

So what are the options open to the senior traveler? The first thing to do is not to leave it too late. Its worth making a start in looking around for your travel insurance policy as soon as you possibly can. The less time that you have then the harder it becomes to shop around and find the exact policy that you need.

Always start by contacting your existing insurance provider. if you already have some health insurance or life insurance then contact your insurance company and ask if they have specific senior travel insurance policies. And if you have a pre-existing medical condition find out if they provide pre-existing medical condition travel insurance.

Always shop around. Even if your insurer provides what appear to be good value quotes take a look around as you may find cheaper alternatives. There are some experienced senior insurance providers who may be able to beat the prices quoted by other, non-specialist providers.

Once you have found a policy and provider that you are happy with why not consider purchasing multi-trip travel insurance. Save yourself time and aggravation by taking out a multi-trip travel insurance policy that will cover your next holiday as well.

Whatever you do, always be honest and open with your prospective travel insurance provider. Never lie about your age and always disclose full details of your health and medical condition when applying for a policy. And makre sure you have a great holiday.

Supplemental Dental Insurance – Eminent Article For You

Health insurance plans seldom cover one’s dental needs; although certain dental procedures are covered by regular health policies, their number is pretty reduced. Therefore, the use of a supplemental dental insurance becomes a necessity. Without a dental plan, one may have to pay a huge amount of money for dental services, which may go further than the possibilities of one’s normal budget. Maybe the costs will not be covered entirely, yet, the payment in the various dental plans will count significantly in the eventuality of a treatment. Although highly efficient, supplemental dental insurance does not substitute the primary insurance.

We could even include supplemental dental insurance in the category of voluntary services; such advantages are sometimes provided by employers to their employees. The very idea of getting a supplemental insurance grew out of the work crisis and instability that we face at present. Some employers don’t offer dental coverage at all, while others have have cut back on such facilities drastically because of the high increase of the dental insurance expenses in recent years. The the plans based on opt-ins and opt-outs enable employees to accept or refuse a basic dental coverage and sign for a form of insurance directly from the dental companies.

Instead of supplemental dental insurance you could use discount dental plans that save lots of money that you’d otherwise pay for the treatments. In return for a monthly or a yearly fee you pay to an insurance company, you get a card that allows you to visit any doctor within the network and get discounts for all the treatments. The fee charged per month is more than affordable, an average example here is per month per covered person. There are other forms of supplemental dental insurance available, some of them applying to certain categories of users.

Student insurance for instance can be labeled as supplemental, but only depending on the circumstances. At the age of 18, children will cease being part of their parents’ dental health plan. And even if the  advantages that come with a school insurance are limited they still serve well for preventive purposes. The supplemental dental insurance has a low cost in the schemes available with universities and colleges, and it is usually set yearly somewhere between 125 dollar and 175 dollar, with the possibility to pay this money together with the tuition fees. In the rest of the cases, supplemental dental insurance refers to the coverage provided by an insurer you pay a fee to on a regular basis.
