A Wedding is one of the most wonderful times in your life and the last thing you want is to remember all of the debt you have because of your wedding. Weddings can get very expensive in a hurry. With wedding crafts not only can you have a great time creating your wedding decorations, you can also save hundreds of dollars. When creating your own decorations you can add your own personal touch while also keeping the price down.A few ideas that can help you add some creative touches to your big day.
It is very easy to create your own wedding veil. There are a few items that you will need to create your veil. You will need a length of bridal illusion in the desired length. You will also need a comb to attach it to your hair and a hat or headpiece to cover the comb. Sew large running stitches about an inch from the end of the illusion and gather it tightly. Now sew the veil to the comb. Top with hat or headpiece.Depending on the style of your wedding there are other headdresses that you may choose such as a wide brimmed straw hat with silk flowers, pearls and ribbon. There are many ways you can add sparkle to your veil by using beads, sequens, pearls and other items that will make your veil even more beautiful. Another idea is to purchase a very inexpensive veil and add your own creative touch making it look like an expensive creation.
The bouquets and floral arrangements can also be personally crafted. For a simple outdoor wedding, consider wild flowers. They are free and have a charm all their own. Bouquets can be arranged in large clear vases, with a bow tied elegantly around.
Favors for the guests are particularly appropriate wedding crafts. Refrigerator magnets are a simple and well-received favor. A really nice idea is to make a magnetic picture frame and include a picture of the couple. You could cut a frame out of craft foam in one of the wedding colors, arrange over the photo, and glue all onto a cardboard backing. Place self-adhesive magnet tape on the back of the cardboard. Decorate the front of the frame with foil heart stickers and a monogram of the couple’s last name.
Bows for the ends of the pews or rows make simple wedding crafts. Wide velvet ribbons are nice for fall and winter weddings, while satin is more appropriate for spring and summer weddings. Loop some flat lace in with the ribbons. In the center of the completed bow, attach some silk flowers and pearl sprays with a hot glue gun.
Perhaps you’d like to try your hand at decorating your own cake.Check the craft section of the department store for pans and gadgets of all types to help you create a cake to remember. Do remember, though, that it takes a steady hand. Be sure to practice before starting on the real cake.
Preparing for a wedding can be expensive, but with wedding crafts, you can take some of the sting out. Plan early, however, because it will take a little while to make favors for everyone and all the other little details you will want to take care of. Maybe creating wedding crafts will even relieve some of those wedding jitters. In any event, creating your own wedding items is a way to have beautiful, personal, and a less expensive wedding.
From Scratch with Scraps – How to Start Scrapbooking!
Do you love to preserve your memories? Are you someone that has pictures of all of those precious moments sitting in a shoe box somewhere? Are you looking for something creative to spend your free time working on? If you find yourself agreeing with any of this then you may be well suited to scrapbooking. If you have never scrapbooked before it may seem a little overwhelming to get started. But many find it quite easy and fun once they get into it. With this guide, you will be up and scrapbooking with the best of them in no time!
What is scrapbooking?
The truth is that the goal of creating a scrapbook is to take care of your memories and to display them in a creative manner. Scrabooking begins with a collection of memories, photos, invites and other memorabilia. For example, you can have an entire scrapbook dedicated to a birthday, or you can have a scrapbook that is dedicated to a specific year. The difference between a scrapbook and a photo album is that the scrapbooker will actually set the photographs on a page that has been decorated with the theme or mood of the event. These are the albums that have stylized pages, colors and holders for each photograph.
How to get started with scrapbooking?
The first thing that you need to do is to assemble all of your old pictures that you have just sitting around, and get those others developed that you have been waiting to do. The next step is to start sorting out all the memories. Basically, you want to divide them into groups by theme, date, or some other type of organization. Now that you have them sorted out spend some time figuring out which scrapbook you want to start with. After all of that organization, you are really ready to get started. Select the scrapbook you want to begin with and crack it open. Start with the first page and have a good idea on the layout before moving on to the second page. Don’t stress too much though, remember – its supposed to be a fun and creative activity.
Where to get scrapbooking materials?
There are a number of sources you can get scrapbooking materials from. The first stop for most people are craft stores. When you drop in, you will find a large amount of stickers and odds and ends to have a look at. Online vendors also are another great source of scrapbooking supplies. The great thing about online vendors is that typically their inventory is much larger. Many scrappers also recommend looking around other places such as your home or office. A lot of scrappers get their materials from offcuts, leftover paper and cardboard and other craft bits.
How to improve?
The great thing about scrapbooking is that you can always get better. There are fabulous resources online to take advantage of like tutorials. For scrapbookers who are people-persons, it may be more beneficial to attend scrapbooking classes. A scrapbooking club is also another way to learn scrapbooking, share ideas and present your scrapbooks to other scrappers.

Scrapbooking Graduation Memories
Graduation is a very good theme for use in a scrapbook. Graduation scrapbooks could be started months or years before the graduation takes place. This could be a project done over time to record your son’s or daughter’s school years and their memories. This could be your project, or you could involve you child in the creative process. Your scrapbook could be created as a traditional scrapbook or you could make a digital scrapbook.
Keeping memories in a book or album like this will preserve them for the future. Snapshots of special moments in your child’s and family’s past few years are the key ingredients to cherished memory book.
There are some pre-designed scrapbook papers with a graduation theme. Use clip art or other pictures by printing them for use as embellishments. Preserve the photos and documents you are adding to a traditonal scrapbook by using archival safe adhesives.
A few items to think about adding are: clubs, hobbies or special interests, achievements, favorite sports, and copies of newspaper clippings, if you have them. Copies of achievement certificates and report cards are useful items to add. Photos, notes or any other memorabilia from friends and family would be nice to add. Your notes or thoughts about the dreams you have for your son or daughter are extra special additions to include. Scans of many of these items would work well if you are going to make a digital scrapbook.
Other ideas: Include each high school or middle school yearly photo on separate pages. Mementos or memorabila from school dances, proms or other school functions. Graduation stickers used as embellishments can enhance the theme. Dedicate a page for each year, such as: freshman, sophomore, junior and senior. Add die cuts as accents. Die cuts are colorful paper or chipboard shapes with themes such as music, dance, or sports. These can be bought at art, craft and scrapbook supply stores.)
You can also leave room for candid photos of the graduation ceremony, parties, or events held before the graduation. Reserve room for announcements or invitations to the graduation ceremony. Any notes, journaling and photo captions can be added to the pages.
Pick out a nice binder or scrapbook album to keep the graduation scrapbook pages in. Find a scrapbook album that is large so that you will have room for photos, awards or other school memorabilia.
After graduation, when the diploma arrives, you might include a copy of it in the album. Planning and saving items for your scrapbook done over a period of time, but these memories are worth the time and trouble. A memory book filled with personal remembrances and mementos makes a wonderful graduation present. And those memories are the kind you want to keep and share forever.
